Of the 22 boards played at the Christmas event on 17 December, 14 were computer-dealt in the normal way and the printed hand record is correct. The remaining eight were 'adjusted' before play and the hand record for them is not correct; these were boards 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 17, 19 and 22. The true record for those hands is available on request from Marc Lee. Because some hands were 'fixed' these have been removed from Pianola and the EBU. The results file is now available here.

The 2016 event was a great success and a good time was had by all. The duplicate was won by Cathy Tailby playing with Marc Lee, an expert who played to make up the numbers, so the prize was awarded to the second-placed Valerie Hoare & Paul Brown. From the 2nd December we are trialling a new format for Friday evenings, with teams of mixed abilities. Depending on the number of tables, each member of the team will play with either two or all three of his teammates. And each team will be given an appropriate handicap.

Congratulations to Alan Evans, who on Wednesday 24th November won the Club Individual Championship by a convincing 3% ahead of second place. The evening was decorated with a number of freaky and badly behaved hands, including a 7510. A matrix of the result and travellers is available here.

Our hosts Golden Hill Sports have applied for an Aviva Community Fund grant to fund the replacement of the currently unusable balcony. Putting the balcony back into use is something the West of England strongly supports, and if Golden Hill get this grant, it will free up further money to get on with renovating the rest of the building.
